ABOUT

Anika Danielle Wagner was born in Gießen in 1990. She studied visual communication/video art/film at the Offenbach University of Art and Design under Rotraut Pape. Her video installation “Galene” was shown at the altonale in Hamburg, Kunst in Licher Scheunen and in Giessen in a solo exhibition in public space. When Cyclone IDAI hit Mozambique in 2019 and flooded cities with millions of inhabitants, she exhibited the photographs she had taken on her trip to Mozambique in 2010. The proceeds were used to buy a new school roof in Mozambique. Her short film "Being Roy Andersson" was shown in cinemas across Germany as a supporting film for the movie "Über die Unendlichkeit" by Roy Andersson.

In 2022, she set off as a filmmaker with the performance group "Mobile Albania" in a bus to shoot a performative road movie that aimed to circumnavigate Bremen by chance. The film celebrated its premiere in the sold-out Schwankhalle in Bremen. Her current short film "Nachlass.", a documentary in which a family secret is revealed through her grandfather's estate, celebrated its world premiere at the Kassel Dokfest 2023.
